Oakville's New Businesses & Meaningful Moments

Oakville continues to grow in thoughtful, community-driven ways — from new small businesses to meaningful cultural moments.

Lyla’s House Coming to Kerr Street
A new lifestyle hotspot is opening this April at 326 Kerr Street. Lyla’s House is expanding its specialty coffee and wine bar concept to Oakville, marking its third location after Georgetown and Toronto.

In a world of drive-through orders and grab-and-go routines, it’s easy to forget that cafés were once places to slow down.  Lyla’s House was created with that idea in mind — a welcoming space where coffee (or a glass of wine) is meant to be enjoyed, not rushed.

Inspired by the concept of a “third place” between home and work, it’s designed for conversation, connection, and comfort.

Oakville's Kerr Village continues to attract unique, independent businesses that add to its welcoming, walkable feel.

Honouring Oakville’s History at Burnet Park
Oakville recently unveiled the Samuel and Martha Adams Memorial at Burnet Park, recognizing the Adams family and Oakville’s early Black community.

Arriving from Maryland around 1855, Samuel Adams built a successful blacksmith business in Bronte and helped launch the stonehooking industry along Lake Ontario. The family also played a key role in establishing Turner African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The $265,000 memorial incorporates stones from the original Adams family home — a meaningful reminder that Oakville’s character is deeply rooted in heritage, diversity, and community leadership.

A Night of Giving Back
Nearly 400 guests gathered at the Oakville Conference Centre for a Venetian-themed masquerade supporting Halton Women's Place.

The annual gala — now running for over 35 years — raised funds for local shelters and outreach programs.

Events like this showcase what makes Oakville special: engaged residents, philanthropic leadership, and a strong sense of care for one another. It was a meaningful evening that highlighted the strength and compassion within the Oakville community.

RUDY Now Open
Toronto favourite RUDY has officially opened its Oakville location at 2501 Hyde Park Gate.

Founded by Luke McCann and Chris Simpson, the brand is known for its simple, flavour-forward smash burgers, thin-cut fries cooked in beef tallow, classic milkshakes, and house-made banana pudding. Oakville residents have been eagerly awaiting its arrival — and it’s now open.

Oakville continues to evolve while staying true to its character — blending history, community, and new local favourites in a way that feels distinctly Oakville.
