Welcome to Burlington
Nestled between two defining geographical features – the Niagara Escarpment and the northwest shores of Lake Ontario – Burlington’s total land area is 187 sq. km (73 sq. miles or 46,300 acres).
Burlington is proud of its green city heritage with more than 581 hectares (1,436 acres) of parkland and quality of life second to none. If swimming, skating, or golfing is your bag, you’ll be happy to know Burlington offers 4 indoor and 2 outdoor pools, 9 splash pads, 12 ice pads, 6 community centers, and 9 local golf courses. Some of the best hiking in the world awaits you on the Bruce Trail and the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO-designated World Biosphere Reserve. The Waterfront Trail – part of the Niagara-on-the-Lake to Québec border trail – skirts the shores of Lake Ontario and Burlington Bay/Hamilton Harbour. The cream-colored sandy beaches and tepid waters at Beachway Park make hot summer days a welcomed event.
